Dixie Arts Council

The DAC is made up of volunteer parents, teachers and staff, with a mission to bring the Arts - theater, music, fine arts, and folk arts, to our children, integrating them into the traditional curriculum and classroom instruction in order to educate the whole child. The council also organizes and sponsors a Youth In Arts performance for all students. The culmination of every year's efforts is the Annual Student Art Show, held during Open House in May. Garden Committee

The Garden Committee was formed in response to teacher and parent interest. In past years we have successfully built gardens in multiple locations at Dixie; a hummingbird garden just outside the library in the lunch patio, garden boxes for each kindergarten class near the bus stop, a Native Garden for fourth grade curriculum use, and Colonial Garden for the fifth grade classes (both gardens received extensive re-dos and upgrades in 2008/09 by students and parent volunteers) and a school-wide garden near the creek beside the athletic fields for discretionary teacher/class use and the popular weekly lunchtime garden “club”. We are always looking for funding, donations of seeds and plant materials, gardening supplies, and laborers. Please contact the Dixie Home and School Club Garden Chair directly to join our team!

If you have any questions or if you would like to help with the gardens, please contact Kristen Huang at 524-8082 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Helpers are especially appreciated during the Wednesday lunch-time activities in the main garden – no green-thumb required – just extra hands willing to dig in and enjoy along with our eager kids.

Hospitality

Refreshments are made available at all DHSC events as well as our Home and School Club monthly meetings, and for parents on the morning of the first day of school. Please contact the Dixie Home and School Club Chair directly.

Sports Day

This is an end-of-year fun event for all of the students. Volunteers are always needed to help and to supervise the games. If you would like to help, contact the Dixie Home and School Club Chair directly.
