Dear Dixie Elementary School Families,
It is with great pleasure that I write to welcome you and your student(s) to the 2014-2015 school year at Dixie Elementary School. I trust that your summer has been filled with both rest and adventure! The Dixie Staff is gearing up for another great year of learning and innovation. We will again be striving to create experiences where all students are capable of continuous learning and academic progress. As a staff, we will continue to serve the whole child by providing a safe and nurturing environment that works to prepare our students for life as digital natives in an increasingly complex and connected world. This year will find us focusing on the four C's of 21st Century Learning (Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Communication and Creativity), STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) Education, and the new Smarter Balanced assessment initiative. Dixie Teachers will also be piloting new math curriculum in preparation for a new adoption/implementation in the fall of 2015.
Again, whether you are new to Dixie Elementary School or a returning family, I encourage you to become an active participant in your child’s education and become familiar with the myriad of activities our school offers. There are multiple opportunities throughout the year with many jobs of all sizes and shapes that are essential to the success of our school. If you’re not sure how to become involved, please ask—we’d love to have you! The Dixie Home and School Club and CanDo! are always looking for parent participation! I’ll continue to send out the DixiE-Newsletters each Thursday. (If you do not already receive it, sign up with Teri at the Dixie front office or email her at email@example.com asking to be signed up for the newsletter via School Messenger.) We have so much to be proud of at Dixie School and, working together, we will continue to create and foster an inclusive, dynamic and caring school community.
